It was a gift for my brother, who I always figured would make an excellent lumberjack, considering his size, strength, and love of the outdoors. The original plan was to have a plaid jacket tossed carelessly on the pile of wood, but the experience of trying to sew a miniature jacket was quite frustrating at the time, so sadly, it never made it to the finished piece.…

“Devil’s Bridge” is a term applied to ancient (mostly European) bridges, and each has it’s own devil-related myth or folktale. This diorama is based on the Rakotzbrücke, that stretches ominously across the Rakotzsee in Kromlau, Germany. It was commissioned by the knight of the local town, and is unique in that the bridge’s half-circle in completed in it’s reflection. Although the bridge was built in 1860, it looked so medieval that I couldn’t resist adding a little cloaked figure.…
