“Devil’s Bridge” is a term applied to ancient (mostly European) bridges, and each has it’s own devil-related myth or folktale. This diorama is based on the Rakotzbrücke, that stretches ominously across the Rakotzsee in Kromlau, Germany. It was commissioned by the knight of the local town, and is unique in that the bridge’s half-circle in completed in it’s reflection. Although the bridge was built in 1860, it looked so medieval that I couldn’t resist adding a little cloaked figure. And that cloak could conceal anything – it’s probably best not to trust him. At best, it’s a sword. At worst, it’s a venomous tree frog wielding throwing stars.
